"Peter, don't tell Harry--- I mean, Cartoon Network." - Green Goblin

What's happened and what's still to come!

Greetings, programs! (I should really update the Tron section in the About page)

I'm semi-satisfied with how the site is turning out! Things still need a lot of work, but the basic layout, navigation, some of the functionality and content, etc., are all in place.

Thus far the biggest piece of work is none other than the Blog page, just so I can make it easier on myself when creating blog posts; this uses markdown files which are most definitely easier to type in.

Home and About pages use HTML, so updating those means going into code. I don't mind it, but it's not efficient.

Text can be updated, and considered always a work in progress anyway. I've also made updates to the logos, Start Menu, etc. Small bits, yes, but better than nothing.

But the biggest thing missing, and probably what people would visit my site for, is the Games page.

And it's still empty.

But I do have plans for it. Here they are:

Circa 2017, I was part of a team that worked on a game for Cartoon Network. While I've made some 2D games for them before (some are ports of old 2D flash games, others are brand-new JavaScript ones), the game in question is, to my knowledge, the first (and sadly, last) of it's kind - a 2D, top down, tile-based, puzzle game where the players can choose characters from the then-popular IPs of Cartoon Network - The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Ben 10, etc.

But what really made this game stand out was the fact that players can make their own levels for it. Yup, players will have to create a profile, where the players' points, experience, win ratio, and created levels are stored.

This game was called, internally, CNPlay, but it would eventually be renamed:

BMO's Game Lab

Click here for a YouTube playlist on what it was like.

It was not my greatest work (I'd like to think I've grown as a developer since then), but it was certainly my proudest project; I was involved from start to finish, had major input on the front and back-end part of the game, learned a lot from it, and had fun doing it.

On August 8, 2024, the Cartoon Network websites were taken offline, along with all my work with them.

Quite a shame to let that all die, eh?

Well, I have plans to revive it, or a very cutdown version of it - I still have no idea where or how I'm gonna host the database, APIs, etc.

It won't be fast, I can tell you that; I'm not even on the supporter / paid tier (as of the time of this writing, I'm still having difficulties finding a job), so .mp3 files aren't supported.

And that's all on the assumption that neocities can run the game in the first place. (I should really make a test game and see if that works)

And that nobody reports me to Turner / Cartoon Network that tips them off to send a Crack-Commando squad of Elite Lawyers and Para-Legals (those are the guys that bust in on parachutes, right?) to shut me down.

But I will get there.
